Pacific Islanders on NZ passports can't vote in Australia's election
Dubravka Voloder on ABC Pacific Beat asked Stephen Howes about the voting status of Pacific Islanders on New Zealand passports.
“Most Pacific Islanders who come into Australia through New Zealand are not able to become permanent residents, they don’t have the skills to get one of those permanent residence visas,” Howes said.
“And therefore, they’re not going to be entitled to become Australian citizens.”
