'A Ray of Hope': The fight against corruption in Melanesian countries
In November International IDEA conducted three webinars exploring corruption in Melanesia as part of the ‘Democratic Development in the Melanesian webinar series 2022’ in which Grant Walton participated.
Dr Walton presented on the effectiveness of the anti-corruption reforms that have been enacted in Papua New Guinea and on the level of corruption in the Solomon Islands. He emphasised the need for education and targeted messaging, as well as the need to strengthen government institutions – including the importance of increasing the numbers of women in the police force.
