Study finds PNG women with more wealth, education experience higher levels of domestic violence
Kingtau Mambon talked to ABC Pacific about analysis of Papua New Guinean national data that challenges many assumptions people hold about intimate partner violence.
“We normally think that having more education, it’s kind of a protective factor, and increases woman status basically, and reduces the exposure to spousal violence,” Mambon told Marian Faa.
“[But we found] spousal violence increases with the wealth quantile — the higher the wealth quantile you go, the higher the spousal violence has been reported.”
