Femili PNG is a PNG NGO that supports survivors of family and sexual violence access the services they need. It operates case management centres in Lae, Port Moresby and Goroka, and a safe house in Port Moresby.
Elly Toimbo joined Femili PNG as a caseworker in 2016, and now manages the Femili PNG Goroka Case Management Centre. The Goroka CMC helps about 14 survivors of family and sexual violence a month, including a significant number of sorcery accusation related violence (SARV) cases. It also runs an extensive outreach and community partnership program throughout the Eastern Highlands Province.
Elly is visiting Canberra to speak at the 2024 Australasian AID Conference. To allow for extended engagement, we will be hosting an informal zoom Q&A session on the evening of Monday 5 December.
For unique insights into and a deep understanding of problems related to family and sexual violence and SARV in PNG, and of the effectiveness of home-grown solutions, join Stephen Howes, Director of the Development Policy Centre and Chair of Femili PNG in an audience-interactive session with Elly Toimbo on Monday 5 December from 7pm to 8pm (AEDT) in Canberra and 6pm to 7pm (PGT) in Port Moresby.
This event is brought to you by the ANU Development Policy Centre and FemiliPNG Australia.
FemiliPNG Australia is a support organisation for Femili PNG that helps fund the Goroka CMC with funding from the Australian government through the Australian NGO Cooperation Program.
